Clinical Trials

We are participating in multiple Phase II-IV clinical research trials sponsored by major pharmaceutical companies to evaluate the effectiveness of medications for the treatment of epilepsy. We also conduct internal studies on important questions raised by our own research and provide access to medications not generally available in Australia.

Who is eligible?

We conduct trials for children and adults diagnosed with partial or generalised epilepsy as well as trials for very specific types of epilepsy such as Dravet syndrome.

The design of clinical trials often requires strict criteria to be met before people can be enrolled to ensure that the trials are safe, ethical and able to provide meaningful data about new treatments. Patients need to attend regular visits with our clinical trials coordinators.

All trials are supervised by the Human Research Ethics Committee of Austin Health and follows strict guidelines set out by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
